She's a famous athlete within American History. She's among only six women in history to win all five World Cup races for alpine-skiing. All told, she has achieved an impressive 82 World Cup championships. She is among the most skilled skiers and racers in the US. A string of health problems caused her to become a four-time World Cup Overall Champion to make the decision to retire. Social media was the method used to announce her retirement.
